This is by far my favorite recipe for chocolate mousse because of three things (1) simplicity (2) taste (3) ingredients.
Pour half a liter of water into a pot and set it on the stove at medium heat. Add the same volume of chocolate bits or shavings to the water and whisk while heating until completely melted. Note that shavings will melt faster than chunks.
Take a large glass or metal bowl and put ice in it, place a smaller glass or metal bowl on top of the ice and pour the melted chocolate into the smaller bowl.
Whisk like crazy for a few minutes until it thickens and you have the consistency of whipped cream. If you continue whipping for 30 seconds after reaching the whipped cream stage, you will have a wonderful chocolate mousse… ready to serve.
There is no cream in this mousse – it is pure chocolate created with some brilliant understanding of chemistry.
